Deepika Padukone Flaunts Red Bikini In Cocktail

Deepika Padukone flaunts a two piece red bikini in Cocktail. The theatrical trailer of the film is fun. It is a total departure (thematically) for director Homi Adjania whose last directorial venture Being Cyrus also starred Saif. Story-screenplay is by Imtiaz Ali who has also written the dialogues along with his brother Sajid Ali (first film). Apart from Saif and Deepika, there's a new girl Diana who is being introduced in Coctail. Interestingly Deepika is called Veronica in the film. It seems like a tug-of-war between Betty and Vernoica for Archie Saif. Pritam has composed eight songs (hopefully all are original) while Irshad Kamil has penned the lyrics. The theatrical trailer of Cocktail is being launched on May 21.

  1. With all due respect to Deepika and all the current Bollywood actresses, we've really have ENOUGH of their bikinis. I live in a small village near Jaipur, and in my family we really MISS previous heroines, who definitely had more class, charm and elegance than the new lot. What are they trying to prove by showing as much skin as possible?! That's really beyond me!

  2. I agree with the first comment. Its like bikini overkill. Everyone who is making an entrance into the industry and those established seem to be taking that route. Maybe its part of the routine..I dont know.It seems to appeal the basest instincts in the name of 'art' :-/

  3. I don't see the need for bikini clad actress as a marketing tool, nor for content. If the movie is good it will do well, if it isn't, it isn't. Besides, I consider Imtiaz Ali an intelligent film maker who does not need to resort to these cheap tricks...I thought he would be the last one to go this route. Deepika's persona is modern enough and she pulls off her performance well enough that she does not need to resort to this, even though this is how she got her start in the glamour business. I personally think she is a stunning performer in the songs...she transforms herself amazingly well. But she needs to work on her diction and dialogue delivery...the returns will be better there.

  4. I am sorry I got two threads mixed in my previous comment...the need for a bikini clad actress, and Deepika as a performer. My apologies for that.

  5. Bollywood had been going strong since soooo many years, and all that bikini + size zero + 6 pack abs + kissing + sex did not exist before... I can already predict that the "bikini act" in Cocktail will be as useless as all the previous ones. These acts NEVER come with a valid reason, it's all about "gloss". A man can notice a woman's beauty not only by seeing her half-naked for God's sake! That's just cheap and voyeuristic + it's NOT part of our culture. Remember how CRUCIAL was Bipasha's bikini act to the story of Players? Kareena's to the narrative of Tashan? Kangna's to Rascals? Or even Rani's to Dil Bole Hadippa?
